Computer Usage

Computer is a great invention. It wasn't invented by one person. Many persons in different times were simply concerned about how to perform mathematical calculations faster and they invented something in their time that was improved upon to become a computer. The first known electronic or electrical computer is the ENIAC which means Electronic Numeric Integrator and Computer.

In today's world, computers are not just calculators as they were in the early 1900s. They've become publishing and multimedia tools, as they can be used to write, proofread and print large amounts of text and even play music and video at incredible quality. Thus, we can define computer as a digital machine capable of being used in different areas of applications since they run on different collections of special instruction codes (software) that are adapted to resolving different tasks/problems.

Classically, we define computers as electronic machines that take in data, process them into information, and then output the information. This definition is becoming obsolete as the processing function of computers can no more be overemphasized, rather, computers today are incredibly versatile in the works that they do and that's why they are becoming more important than human labour.

Computer Usage simply implies how to use or operate a computer. I have strived to categorize computer usage into four:

Internet Usage

The internet is fantastically an amazing invention based on computing technology. It connects all the computers in the world, by wired and wireless technology, and thus forming the basis for more connectivity. It started from normal Ethernet LAN technology to wireless LAN technology up unto the internet. The internet has birthed cloud computing, remote working, e-Commerce, e-Banking, e-Management, VoIP technology, and so on so forth.

Internet Usage simply refers to how to use the internet. It does not include the intricacies of the internet technology and how it is developed. Thus, in this part I would be talking on some websites and web apps that can be used to improve one's productivity.


System Operation

The term system is usually used in computing to refer to software pieces that control and manage hardware and applications. Understanding the concept of systems would really help to make you know the value of different computing hardware devices, like the RAM and Hard drive, and software applications, like Word Processing, Graphics Designing, programming, etc.


Applications Usage

Applications, in computing, refer to the group of software that can be used in different areas of human endeavours. Reading and writing is one the major activities of mankind since the medieval periods. With applications such as Word processors and Readers, people can now right much faster and read even faster than they used to. In this part we would really spend quality time learning commonest applications and their usefulness. These include internet browsers and word processors.


Coding

Coding simply refers to the usage of special characters and words to create user interface, programme or just to communicate with a computer based on a particular syntax structure. In simpler terms, it is the usage of characters and keywords to make software or to command/instruct a computer.

Coding is differentiated from programming as it encompasses some ancillary aspects in the software making process such as pseudoprogramming, algorithm drafting, flow-charting, User Interface (UI) design, and User Experience (UX) assessment.

The kind of coding implemented on an Operating System is called High-Level Coding. This kind of coding usually requires one or more types of parsers or interpreters to work properly. It is the commonest as it does not require the knowledge of machine design. There are different classification style for high level coding languages, nonetheless, I usually classify them into three: web, desktop, and mobile.
